BOOGIE CASTILLO
Musician producer emcee Born and raised in Valparaiso Chile. Boogie Castillo found an interest in rhythms and percussion at an early age. Stood on stage for the first time as a 9-year-old. His family showed him everything from folklore andino, tango, cumbia protest songs that were not allowed to be listened to in a political dictatorship. There he realized the power of music and found freedom in metaphors and poetry in this beautiful art form.
At the end of the 80s, the family moved to Sweden Where the interest in music went hand in hand with showing off his culture. Boogie played with troubadours and various folk music groups. Castillo fell in love with hip hop; Public Enemy became the teachers who showed that politics, poetry and groove was the way. In the 90s Boogie started his first project "D.O.S.S." Then he moved back to Chile and experimented with Jazz in Valparaiso together with "El 4:to de los Tiempos". This was the seed that gave birth to the idea for a collective that became "Illstar Allstars" back in Sweden. Boogie produced 4 albums with "Illstar Allstars”. Already during this time he played together with Daniel, who later presented the Cumbiasound project.
There their journey began- The freedom of Cumbia evokes rhymes about love and peace.
